Lance Dunn competes on the Whitworth men’s tennis team, citing his strong first serve as his secret weapon. He is majoring in business management and is also a small business owner. We asked him about his experience as a student-athlete:
“A typical day in the season consists of classes in the morning, then a team lift, followed by practice, work, then homework at night when I get back to my apartment. We usually have about three hours of committed practice/lifts a day on days where we do both; otherwise we could just do practice, which is about two hours a day.
“The biggest highlight of my experience has been the team culture and friendships. The people on my team are some of my good friends; we all treat each other like family. On the team, we are all supportive of each other and lift each other up whenever we can. The community at Whitworth is super supportive; we usually have a decent sized turnout at our matches, where the crowd and our team keep the energy high. The athletes on campus are all interested in how the other athletes are doing, so having that recurring community of support is amazing.”
