Team of business and computer science students wins business pitch competition

Congratulations to CELERI.io, the winning business pitch and recipient of a $50,000 investment at Sparks Weekend, a startup competition that took place Nov. 17-19 in Spokane! The 14-member team includes eight Whitworth students – business administration majors Debora Geneti ’25 and Deborah Teressa ’25, business management major Jennifer Fanto ’24, and computer science majors Matheus Silva ’25, Fabian Gomez ’25, Gana Battumur ’25, Jonathan Hamstra ’24 and Bereket Lemma ’25.

The team’s vision is to create integrated software that can serve as a communication hub for all stakeholders involved in the judicial system, focusing on criminal courts to start. The team hopes its system would reduce pretrial detention times by aiding communication within and among different counties and their courts.
