Ingrid Contreras is a flyer on Whitworth’s cheerleading team. She is a first-year psychology major who was drawn to Whitworth by its small class sizes and tight-knit community. We asked Ingrid about her experience as a student-athlete:
“The thing I love the most about being on the cheer team is being able to create great connections with all the girls on my team. I really love being able to perform all of the dances and stunts that we put all our hard work into. The highlight of my experience on this team was when we traveled to Battle Ground, Wash., to the high school State Cheer competition to perform an exhibition routine. I loved being able to be a part of this because we were able to show the high schoolers what collegiate cheer is like. I also enjoyed the bonding experience with my teammates.
“A person who has made a personal impact on me is my teammate, Camille Tremblay ’25. This is her third year on Whitworth cheer, but she also has many years of All Star Cheer experience. She has helped me excel in my position as a flyer by giving me many helpful tips and advice on how to perform to my best ability. She always has a positive attitude and mindset when helping me progress. I appreciate everything she has helped me with this entire season.”
