Summer Snapshot: Political science major Abby Ruffcorn ’27 interns at law firm

This summer, Whitworth students have been up to many meaningful activities, from applying their classroom learning in internships, gaining cross-cultural skills through studying abroad, and making a difference in their communities by volunteering.

Abby Ruffcorn ’27, a political science major, shares about her internship at a local law firm:

“This summer I completed my political science and pre-law internship at the law firm Ramsden, Marfice, Ealy and De Smet, LLP Attorneys at Law. I spent the summer commuting to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, every day for work. I had the opportunity to prepare and create legal documents, aid with estate planning, attend trials and shadow various attorneys. This was such an amazing opportunity, and it truly helped me understand various different areas of law and how the law works in an office setting.

“This experience confirmed that I have a huge desire to make a difference within the world, and I believe getting a law degree will help me achieve my passion. During this internship, I was able to interact with how my faith would impact my work. I believe that bringing Christ into the legal setting is hugely important and makes for an even more accomplished attorney.”
