A contingent of Pirate swimmers has returned from Thailand, where they taught swimming, English and anti-human trafficking skills to children in kindergarten through ninth grade. Four members of the swimming team – Chamelle Abringe ’26, Hailey Freeman ’27, Mason Groth ’26 and Grace Oster ’26 – and coach Steve Schadt ’96 joined with the swim team from Arizona Christian University to spend a week and a half visiting schools in rural villages on Thailand’s northern border. The group worked with the Paladin organization, whose mission is to end human trafficking in Southeast Asia.
Watch a wonderful video by Paladin about the trip’s impact and look for interviews with Steve, Hailey and Chamelle here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvUmKKKbs00
Thank you to the generous donors who helped make this trip possible for our student-athletes by participating in Whitworth’s inaugural Athletics Day of Giving last fall!
