At Whitworth, we’re passionate about expanding our intellectual and spiritual understanding and learning through purposeful relationships. Last weekend, a group of our theology students had a chance to do just that in community with other theology students from around the region at the PNW Undergrad Theology Roundtable.
This gathering at Camp Ghormley in Yakima County brought theology students and faculty members from Whitworth, George Fox, Seattle Pacific and Northwest universities together to make connections across institutions and have meaningful conversations about the gospel and living lives as Christians in the Northwest. The roundtable discussions were all connected to the Nicene Creed.
Whitworth theology major Zoe Thomas ’27 reflects on the trip, saying, “I enjoyed gathering in a beautiful outdoors camp with theology professors and students from all around the Pacific Northwest, from all different backgrounds, talking about what we are passionate about. I loved getting close to all of the students and learning more about the Nicene Creed and how it can bring us together.”
Whitworth Associate Professor of Theology Jeremy Wynne helped to secure a generous grant from the Lilly Network to make the retreat possible. He says, “This kind of above-and-beyond opportunity – relational, collaborative and spiritually focused – is a perfect example of what Whitworth does well.”
