Whitworth seeks to help all students experience a sense of belonging and home on campus, regardless of whether they live in the residence halls. This fall, we opened the Commuter Lounge in the Hixson Union Building (HUB) to provide a centralized location for commuter students to study, connect and relax in between classes.
Ken Guan, Ed.D., manager of community standards & commuter student engagement, shares that Whitworth also supports commuter students by:
- Hosting social events both on and off campus
- Providing an online Canvas course loaded with resources for commuters
- Reaching out to students experiencing personal or academic difficulties through in-person visits, email, phone calls or texts
