Three engineering & physics students receive full funding from Ph.D. programs

Through challenging coursework and research with professors that leads to journal publications and conference presentations, students in our STEM programs investigate questions and seek truth about our world. Upon graduation, they are prepared to enter the industry as scientists and engineers or enroll in top graduate programs.

We’re excited to share that three outstanding seniors in our engineering & physics department have received fully funded offers (including tuition, a living stipend and health insurance) from Ph.D. programs for the fall:

  • E.Q. Qian ’26 (physics major) will pursue a Ph.D. in electrical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, supported by the MIT Presidential Fellowship.
  • Elena Calderon ’26 (physics major and applied mathematics major in the math & computer science department) will pursue a Ph.D. in applied mathematics at the University of Colorado Boulder.
  • Colby Cinqmars ’26 (engineering major) will pursue a Ph.D. in aerospace & mechanical engineering at the University of Arizona.

Congratulations, all!
